Transforming the potential of pearls into beauty
During wartime in the 1940s,
pearls were deemed nonessential luxury goods by the government, and their production and sale were prohibited.
It was Kokichi Mikimoto who once again recognized a new potential in pearls.
Recognizing that calcium and proteins found in pearls could benefit health and beauty, he paved the way for bringing beauty to people through pearls from a perspective beyond jewelry.
